Income Manager, Child.org
Passionate about driving change, equality and inclusion, Lucy James (2004-2011) has spent her professional career working in growing international NGOs and nonprofits working to spark progress in global development. Currently, Lucy leads the fundraising and communications team for an international maternal and child health charity, Child.org. Her work has taken her across the world: from leading pioneering cross country cycling challenges across Kenya’s world-famous safari parks, to scaling mountains in Nepal and driving golf buggies around some of the biggest music festivals in the UK. Her time at Exeter School prepared her well for this – taking part in Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to both Slovenia and Morocco (as well as many hikes on Dartmoor!).
Some of her fondest memories of Exeter School are the senior school drama productions: in her lower sixth year she choreographed the school’s “Crazy for You” production, and followed that a year later as the leading lady in the French farce, La Dame de chez Maxim. Following Lucy’s time at Exeter School, she travelled solo across Latin America before heading to King’s College London to study French and Spanish followed by a Masters in Conflict, Security and Development at the University of Sussex.
Lucy loves the outdoors and can normally be found on a board or in a boat somewhere off the south coast.
