Exeter School pupils enjoyed an excellent set of results at the Devon Junior Chess Championships, held at Teign School on Saturday 29 November. The competition was closely contested across all age groups, and our pupils represented the school excellently.

In the Under 9 category, there were standout performances from Edward and Oliver who both secured four wins, finishing 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Both pupils received Performance Certificates and trophies for their achievements. Rafe also played extremely well, scoring three wins from six and earning a Performance Certificate.

In the Under 11 category, Exeter School finished an impressive second place as a team, just half a point behind the winners. All pupils received team certificates, with several strong individual results including Toby finishing with 4.5/6, earning second place as well as a Performance Certificate and trophy. Ethan also received a Performance Certificate, with Henry and Vincent also contributing valuable points to the team’s success.

Our senior school pupils also excelled at the championships, with 15 players taking part and a third place finish in the U18 Championship.

Congratulations to all pupils across the junior and senior school who took part, you all did the school proud.
