A few of our junior school pupils took part in the Riviera Chess Tournament at Churston Ferrers Grammar School on Sunday:
Under 10 Event: 7 Rounds
Edward 4.5/7 (Placed 3rd. and received a trophy)
Henry 3/7
Rafe 3/7
Reuben 1/7
Under 12 Event: 6 Rounds
Vincent 2/6
Tobias 2/6
It was a learning experience for Reuben in his first event: getting used to competition rules, reading a pairing board and using a digital clock but his attitude was excellent. Rafe improved his score from the last event he played. Henry and Edward are reliable performers now and Edward can be proud of his trophy winning efforts. Vincent and Tobias were among the youngest in their event and enjoyed some good games. As you would expect, the conduct of our players was a credit to Exeter School.
The next event is the Devon Championships on 29 November and we’re looking for enough players entered to have teams in the different age groups so please do let Mr Cross know if you’re interested.
