Following victory in the Devon finals before the half term break the U13 boys’ hockey team travelled to Millfield School this week to compete against the ‘best in the west’ at the west of England finals. This group had finished as runners up at U12s last year and had been in great form on their own circuit. Wins against Taunton School, Dean Close and Salisbury in the group stages meant they finished in second place behind Clifton College and would face last year’s winners Millfield in the semi-finals. In what turned out to be a superb semi-final match the final result was decided on strokes. Despite their disappointment on missing out on a place in the final (Millfield beat Clifton) they did superbly to pick themselves up for the 3rd/4th play off and beat Cheltenham College. A third place finish in the west of England is an excellent achievement and they should be very proud of their efforts during the day.
