Many of our sixth formers take part in the Young Enterprise scheme, which provides them with the opportunity to devise their own business ideas, create products and sell them at local events. One such business is Relique, whose creators have given an insight into their experience of the Young Enterprise scheme.
We’re a group of sixth formers who decided to turn a fresh, unique twist on old spoons into fantastic, high quality rings, all while learning the ropes of running a business through the school’s Young Enterprise scheme. We wanted to do something creative and sustainable, so we source spoons from second-hand shops, charity shops and the kitchen draw; transforming them into custom rings, and selling them at a profit.
We knew it wouldn’t be easy, and we’ve definitely hit some bumps along the way—like struggling to find the right spoons and learning how to get the rings just right. Time management has also been tricky with schoolwork piling up, but we’re pushing through!
So far, we’ve made a lot of progress. We’ve improved our crafting process, grown our social media, and hit high sales. But we’re always looking for ways to improve—whether it’s speeding up production or marketing better.
Overall, it’s been an awesome experience, and we’re excited to see where this goes!
