The school netball term got underway last weekend with a pre-season tournament for the U19s and U14s hosted at Exeter School. Teams from Exeter, The Maynard, Blundell’s, Taunton School, Mount Kelly, Plymouth College and Wellington School competed in a tournament format allowing the heads of netball to rotate squads ahead of a busy fixture card. Both Exeter age groups did really well finishing 3rd and 4th respectively. The U14s were also involved in mid-week cup action beating Bryanston School in the national ‘Sisters in Sport’ plate winning 33-22. They now progress to the quarter finals where the face the Crypt School (Gloucestershire) at home before half term.
Head of Netball Miss Johnson said “the number of pupils who have opted for netball this term is fantastic, over 50 girls have selected to play in lower fifth! We were also delighted with the performances of the senior team and U14s this week and can’t wait for the rest of the season!”
This weekend the netball squads play in a block against Mount Kelly ahead of busy mid-week schedule. We look forward to hearing about all the netball action in the coming weeks.
