The senior hockey girls were treated to a team building session with Mrs Hayden at Pennywell Farm on Thursday evening as they geared up to a term of hockey fixtures. The girls loved pizza in the barn and did a tractor challenge which saw some beautiful scenery on a clear evening. They went back to childhood years on the bouncy castles and curled up with some mini piglets, which was, of course, a highlight. Aside from all the fun to be had, there was also a serious message about team culture, the power of positive attitude and how positive interactions with team mates can change a situation and even a result. The girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves and will be hoping to implement some of this shared experience into the remainder of the season.
In other hockey news, some of the other year groups in the senior school have also been in action. Last week the U14s played their first tournament together and started brilliantly remaining undefeated at the King’s College Festival. There were also mid-week matches for the U13s and U14s against The Maynard School which allowed a final pre-season run out ahead of the main season. It is the turn of the 2nd XI and U13s this weekend as they head to Shebbear (2nd XI) and Blundell’s Festival (U13s). Good luck to everyone involved.
