Rugby & Hockey round up

Posted: 22nd September 2023

A first block fixture of the term saw the rugby squads take on QEH school from Bristol on a wet September Saturday. There were some fantastic matches throughout the day and excellent performances from Exeter sides. The U16s started their season superbly overturning a 28 – 36 loss last year into a 64 – 7 win this time around. The 1st XV followed their great mid-week cup performance with another win, playing some exciting rugby at points during a 19-17 victory. The U12s also highlighted their potential with two great performances; lots of players representing the senior school for the first time. The rest of the sides showed plenty of character during some tough games, and will hope to develop their performance going into their block fixture against Blundell’s School this weekend.

The girls’ hockey teams have also been busy with fixtures against West Buckland and Plymouth College. Excellent performances by the U14A and U12A&B meant they started their season with victories. The U13s travelled to the Blundell’s pre-season tournament – a festival which included some of the best teams in the south-west. Victory in their group was followed by an outstanding win against Millfield in the semi-final before a narrow loss to Clifton in the final. What a great effort and start to the season! The U15As and U13s squads were also in mid-week action against Plymouth College – the U15s recording their first success of the season and the U13s continuing their fine form.
