Mind the gap
Alumni Talk by Harry Hart
Harry Hart (2011 – 2016) gave an entertaining talk to Crossing House on Friday 8 September on his gap year experience in Ghana.
Harry went to Africa for 8 months to teach in an Orphanage School with Project Trust having passed their rigorous selection process and raised over £5,000 through work, money from trusts and a generous grant from the Old Exonian Club.
As well as teaching English and Maths, he introduced the children to rugby and outdoor activities. He was able to travel widely in Ghana and other parts of Africa, seeing wildlife and sampling the many beaches and lagoons.
Harry explained how enriching the whole experience was, and how he realised that teaching also requires lesson preparation! He strongly recommends Project Trust as an organisation to work with on a gap year.
