Interactive ‘speed dating’ careers activity
Upper Sixth Futures programme
Eight recent past pupils returned to School to meet the Upper Sixth as part of the Futures Programme on Tuesday 12 September.
The topics were ‘Surviving your First Year at University’, and ‘Enjoying the Challenge of a Gap Year’. The pupils were able to visit three different alumni to hear their stories in interactive question and answer sessions.
2016 leavers Amy Swiggs, Harry Hart and Imogen Gibb talked about their gap years working and travelling in Mozambique, Ghana and the UK and how to fund these experiences.
Their peers Toby de Mendonca, Chris Richardson, Ayesha White and Jess Albutt gave valuable insights on how to survive the first year at the university and enjoy it, drawing on their experience of Oxford, Warwick, Bristol and Birmingham respectively.
Max Brewer (2015) covered the need to applying for work placements and internships while discussing his two years studying Economics at Nottingham.
