Girls v School Hockey Match

September 2017

A strong squad of eleven alumnae returned to School to play the 1st XI girls’ hockey team on 8 September.

The game started well for the OEs, despite it being the first time several had hit a hockey ball in over a year. For the first fifteen minutes, the OE team retained most of the possession and good linking play from the forwards meant they won a string of short corners.

However, great saves from the school keeper Molly Tettenborn prevented these being converted into goals, the score being 0 - 0 at half time. The school came out with more attacking force in the second half, and a quick break from their forwards resulted in the first goal of the match.

The OEs rallied, and played with increased determination, but although there were many narrow misses, they could not level the score, leaving the school team victorious, 1 - 0. It was a very enjoyable match and a great chance to be reunited with friends and team mates.

The OE team consisted of Rebecca Richardson (2006-2016), Sophie Jefferson (2006-2017), Ayesha White (2011-2016), Natasha Cook (2011-2016), Eka Barker-Privalova (2012-2017), Isla Gebbie (2010-2017), Sophie Brook (2005-2016), Victoria Ackford (2010-2017), Jenny Herring (2010-2017), Em Scott (2014-2016) and in goal, Martin Cull (2004-2016).
