Geography under the autumn sun
Lower Fifth pupils were introduced to fieldwork techniques at Seaton Wetlands as part of their GCSE studies in lovely sunshine this week.
Head of Geography Helen Sail said the pupils were full of enthusiasm learning about the management and habitats at the Axe wetlands.
“They learned about pollution indicators through kick sampling in the river and how to measure velocity and channel characteristics in a river,” she said.
“They gathered data on how the different features found at the Axe wetlands produce their own microclimate and had to navigate themselves around the site.”
Governor Helen Clark said the day went well and they were lucky with the weather.
