Chaplain’s thought for the week
Revd Tom encourages participation in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal for 2017
It was great to welcome Hugh Scudder from Christian Response to Eastern Europe into Chapel for both Junior and Senior Schools this week. He spoke passionately about the situation in Moldova where they support people in many ways.
Christian Response to Easter Europe has helped thousands of people in Moldova and Romania. The charity has transported and distributed several thousand tonnes of humanitarian and medical aid. They are a Devon-based, voluntary charity whose roots go back to 1990. Hugh’s talk gave us an insight on the impact they have individuals, families and schools through humanitarian aid, family sponsorship, soup kitchens and their Christmas Shoebox Appeal.
Hugh asked pupils to consider putting presents into shoeboxes which can be wrapped up for children in Moldova. He described the joy he has seen on the faces of children who receive even simple things, like a bar of soap, sweets or a packet of pens.
I am encouraging each tutor group in both the Junior and Senior School to get involved by making a box, and our pupils may also wish to make their own. The deadline for completion is Monday 27 November, when Senior School pupils should bring them into Chapel and place them at the altar, where they can be collected. Junior School pupils can bring them to Form rooms please. For more information, please see: http://cr2ee.webplus.net/
I do hope we can make a positive difference through making these shoeboxes.
