Opportunities for graduates

Signe Hulbert (1999 - 2008) ran a lunchtime seminar with Upper Sixth scientists on the joys and challenges of studying Physics or Engineering at university and the many job opportunities available to young graduates.

She explained how she prepared for her University interview at to read Engineering at St Hugh’s College Oxford and then discussed aspects of the course and the similarities and differences between studying pure science subjects and engineering.

Signe then answered questions about working as a graduate engineer drawing on her current experience as a senior technology consultant at Atkins, and her previous work as a systems engineer with Ricardo.

Head of Physics Dr Wilson said it was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to get an up-to-date and honest view of the industry and academia and thanked Signe for coming in and spending time with the pupils to answer their many questions.
