Welcome to Exeter School

Exeter School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 7-18. In the Senior School there are over 670 pupils aged between 11 and 18 and around 180 in the Junior School aged between 7 and 11.

The School aims to promote high ethical standards and to broaden cultural horizons. It is committed to the creation of a happy and caring fully co-educational environment in which its pupils are able to realise their complete potential.

The School was founded in 1633 and has maintained a leading role in the provision of high-quality independent education in the county of Devon. With 70 full and part-time teaching staff and over 30 peripatetic music tutors and excellent modern facilities, Exeter School can offer the very best education for the twenty-first century.

Within a Christian framework, Exeter School seeks to develop values of honesty, self-discipline, commitment and self-motivation, enabling pupils to play a positive role in the broader community, and preparing them for the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of adult life.
