School's Sports Centre unveils brand-new climbing wall
At their Summer Open Evening on 7th July 2010, Exeter School unveiled a brand-new indoor climbing and abseiling wall within its Sports Centre. The project is a joint venture with Laser Camp which runs multi-activity day camp holidays on the School’s 25-acre site.
The climbing wall is the latest Christalithe construction system, designed by Entre-Prises UK, which offers excellent route-setting possibilities and is high friction and hard-wearing. It will be used by pupils at the school during lunchtime and after-school activities and as part of the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh Award training.
Over the summer holidays the school will also be redeveloping its all-weather pitches by laying the very latest artificial grass surface. Developed by TigerTurf, the sand-dressed pitches meet both International Hockey Federation and Lawn Tennis Association standards.
Andy Mason, Director of Sport at Exeter School, says:
“The new climbing wall and astro turf moves the school into the next level of sports facilities development. I am very grateful to Laser for their commitment to the climbing wall project, which strengthens our already close links, and I would also like to thank Exeter School Parents Association (ESPA) whose fundraising has enabled the purchase of brand-new climbing equipment for the pupils.”
