Paddlers raise £500 for Peru's ChallengePaddlers raise £500 for Peru's ChallengeExeter School Canoe Club undertakes a sponsored paddleA team of 12 paddlers (accompanied by teacher/instructor Pete Scott) completed a 50km marathon descent of the River Dart from Dartmeet (deep in a rocky valley in the middle of Dartmoor) to Dartmouth (where the Dart meets the sea) on Saturday 2 February. They started early in freezing conditions up on Dartmoor - with car-parks frozen over and icicles hanging from the river banks - and arrived in the dark at Dartmouth 9h 45m later, to a celebratory welcome by jumping salmon and by a seal popping its head up next to Ross MacLeod's kayak! Very many thanks to all who generously offered sponsorship for the event - it was much appreciated! The team hope to have raised over £500 for Peru's Challenge. |
