Musicians win 25 Merits and six Distinctions

Exeter School pupils gained between them 49 passes in last term's Associated Board and Guildhall/Trinity music examinations, including 25 Merits and six Distinctions. Three of the successful candidates are pictured on the left.

Especial congratulations go to Oliver Stephenson and Fiona Mabin (Merit, Grade 5 'cello), Eleanor Dawson (Distinction, Grade 5 vioin), Alex Wesson (Distinction, Grade 5 trombone), Bethany Partridge (Merit, Grade 6 piano), Harriet Davies (Merit, Grade 6 singing), Thomas Horton and John Baldock (Merit, Grade 6 clarinet), Thomas Boother (Merit, Grade 7 trombone), Felicity Clarke and Artemis Crowley (Merit, Grade 7 singing), Hannah Partridge (Merit, Grade 7 piano) and James Cole (Grade 8 trumpet). The most outstanding results of all were Michael Dawson (Distinction, Grade 7 piano, with the quite exceptional mark of 140 out of 150) and James Puddicombe (Distinction, Grade 8 flute).
