Insight into Science
Primary Science Day
Exeter School’s Senior School Science department hosted three local Primary Schools for an exciting insight into the world of Science.
The 75 pupils from St Leonard’s Church of England Primary, St Sidwell’s Church of England Primary School and Newtown Primary School exploded, whizzed and dissected their way through a morning with the three disciplines of Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
They then spent the afternoon enthralled by Mr Tuohey’s lightning experiment, Mrs Johnson’s mindboggling optical illusions and Mr Tear’s fantastic liquid nitrogen display and general chemistry extravaganza!
Our Junior School joined us later on and thoroughly enjoyed the Science Show too.
Mr Nixon of St Leonard’s Church of England Primary School said that he and the children had an absolutely fantastic day.
“They were buzzing from all the experiments - you can't beat a bit of fire or dry ice!”
Ms Woodhouse of St Sidwell’s Church of England Primary School said: “‘The children are still talking about it now and I have had comments from parents telling me how much their children enjoyed it, thank you!”
St Sidwell’s School pupils’ comments included: “Very inspiring, a great day of learning and interest”, “'Exeter School made me smile”, 'It was crazy cool in Chemistry, fun in Physics and brilliant in Biology!”, “'It was really fun especially when the rocket went across the room!” and “It was fun learning new things!”
