2018 London Dinner
Forty Exonians enjoyed the annual London Dinner at Browns Covent Garden on Tuesday 15 May.
The magisterial Judges Court room provided suitable ambiance and the three-course buffet format with plenty of choice and options for second helpings worked very well.
Exonians from the 1950s to recent graduates now working in London enjoyed sharing stories and reminiscences, particularly about the School in the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s.
Diners included Head of Sixth Form Alison Marsh, Head of Drake House Mike Porter, Higher Education Adviser Manoj Chitnavis and Alumni Secretary Karen Dart, along with three OE Governors, Chair Andrew King (1960 - 1965), Vice Chair Gillian Hodgetts (1984 -1986) and Adrian Burbanks (1977 - 1984).
It was very good to see strong representation of members of School House, from Mike Porter’s time as its Housemaster. Director of Alumni Relations John Davidson provided some anecdotes about changes in the School over the last forty years, and Headmaster Bob Griffin gave an overview of recent developments and successes.
Conversations continued well past the official finish of 10pm, with the staff at Brown’s providing great hospitality. It was very good to see Exonians travelling to the dinner from Scotland, the South West, the Midlands and the South Coast as well as from the Home Counties and we look forward to meeting again in 2019.
