The next steps
IT and Computer Science
Exeter Junior School’s third Lower Two Careers Morning had an IT and computer science theme this year and was thoroughly enjoyed by pupils and staff.
Pupils experienced three activities ranging encryption to stop-motion filming.
We welcomed Emma Hupertz, Paul Turner and Emma Stannard from Cosmic to learn about stop-motion filming.
Head of Computer Science Ms Pinches worked with pupils on encryption and discussed her tech-focused career.
PSHE Coordinator Mrs Goldsworthy involved pupils in a careers quiz looking at which skills are needed for what jobs – with prizes for everyone!
This fun event is part of Exeter School’s wider strategy for preparing pupils for their next steps and beyond.
Careers Adviser Mrs Cheesman said she was pleased with the event as it show-cased not only the importance of tech in today’s world of work but also the need for transferrable skills, beyond just the academic.
Mrs Cheesman is now based upstairs in the Senior School Library in an open plan office in order to be accessible to all pupils. Please do feel free to contact her at any time with careers-related questions.
