A new experience!
Lower Two and Upper Two visit Haven Banks
Once again, Exeter Junior School pupils sampled the multi-million pound Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre down on Exeter’s quayside. Every year, Upper Two and Lower Two pupils enjoy an activity day at the centre and this year was no exception. Added to that, the weather was kind to us, particularly in the afternoon.
The children participated in two activities of their choice during the course of the day, and enjoyed their packed lunch adjacent to the canal.
As usual, the range of activities was extensive and included sailing, climbing wall, raft building, archery, kayaking, team building and canoeing; we also had our first taste of paddle boarding, thanks to a request from Mr Pidwell! It served as the perfect ’warm-up’ for the Upper Two Residential at Widemouth Bay in a few days’ time.
As for Lower Two, this was a first taste of Haven Banks for them as a school activity.
Milly Traylor said it was a really fun day and she particularly enjoyed canoeing.
“I have never done it before and I enjoyed the fact that it was a real challenge making sure the canoe didn’t capsize.”
Todd Rook said: “I really enjoyed the ‘SUP’ (stand up paddle boarding) because I never imagined how many different activities you can do on an inflatable board! I really want to do it again!”
