Woods and words at Stover Country Park
Science and English field trip for Year Four
On Tuesday 13th June the pupils from Upper One visited Stover Country Park for a combined, cross-curricular Science and English field trip. We were very lucky with the weather, and the sun shone on the children's learning.
In the morning the children studied different habitats, then tried their hand at pond dipping.
In the afternoon, pupils followed the Ted Hughes poetry trail and listened to some of his poems. The outdoor tiered classroom really helped the children look at and listen to the woods around them, and helped inspire their own poetry.
- "It was exciting not knowing what you were going to find. We found a rare water scorpion!" (Freddy Brinicombe)
- "The carvings of Ted Hughes's animals were really cool! I picked the poem Worm as my favourite.” (Calvin Clifford)
