Lower Fifth artwork inspired by school production
Lord of the Flies
Artwork celebrating key themes within the Middle Fifth production of Lord of the Flies will be on display the week of the production.
Last term, pupils studying Art in the Lower Fifth Form explored William Golding’s 1954 novel Lord of the Flies – the forthcoming Middle Fifth production.
The pupils were reminded of the key themes in the narrative through a short animation, before designing graphic compositions based on poignant motifs, such as the conch shell and the pig’s head.
Head of Art, Mrs Alison Escott, said: “The pupils analysed a number of existing production posters and illustrations before embarking on their own designs. The bold colour in the final outcomes has been achieved through carefully placed coloured tissue underlay. The end results are certainly powerful and eye-catching’.
The work created will be on display in the Dining Hall foyer during the production and we hope the audience will enjoy seeing the striking outcomes.
Tickets are available from the box office.
