Holly takes Recruit of the Year title
Middle Fifth Form
Congratulations to Middle Fifth Former Holly Blair-Kitchener who is this year’s recipient of the Exeter School Middle Fifth Recruit of the Year award.
During the autumn term, Middle Fifth CCF recruits undertake their core training including drill, first aid, navigation, military knowledge and leadership. The cadets all then get two taster sessions with each of the RN, Army and RAF sections before choosing their section in December.
CCF Commander Dr Smale explained: “During the recruit training phase, the staff and senior cadets are asked to put forward names of recruits who stood out and showed excellent teamwork, leadership, enthusiasm and commitment.
“This year the award for top recruit went to Holly.”
Holly has now joined the RAF section and started working towards her first class cadet award.
She said she was very happy and surprised to have received this award.
“I have been working hard and I am glad to see that people have noticed that,” she said.
“I will continue to work hard now that I am in my desired chosen section, RAF.
“So far in my time with CCF, I have enjoyed it and it has been a highlight that I look forward to throughout the week.
“I chose RAF because I felt that it opened the most opportunities for me and I could get the most out of it, with flying, first aid, D of E, shooting and knowledge.
“I am pleased to say that through the opportunities that I get with RAF, I am undertaking, the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. I am very much looking forward to this experience and I can’t wait to see what it shall bring.”
