New swimming opportunity for Junior School
Development Swimming Squad
Exeter Junior School is delighted to introduce a Swimming Development Squad, to enable pupils to develop their skills in preparation for the Swimming Squad.
Junior School PE and Girls’ Games Coordinator Miss Wright said in light of the fantastic number of pupils trialling for the Swimming Squad (64 to be precise!), it was decided to establish a Development Squad, due to the Swimming Squad only being able to take 30 swimmers.
“Well done to the 18 pupils who were selected, based on their times and stroke technique, to join the newly founded Development Squad,” she said.
“The Squad trains on Tuesday afternoons, meeting at 3.15pm and finishing at 4pm at the pool.
“The group have been looking at how a Swimming Squad is set up and the formalities, stroke technique, advanced skills and, of course, a few games have been thrown in at the end of most sessions to ensure the fun element is at the heart of what we do.
“It really is testament to all pupils who put themselves forward for the trials that the Development Squad has been able to form. Thank you and well done!”
Exeter Junior School pupils in Form One and Upper One (Years 3 and 4) enjoy swimming lessons all year round in the newly built indoor swimming pool. Pupils in Lower Two and Upper Two enjoy a block of swimming for half a term on Tuesdays during their Games session every year.
