The school is very sad to report that our former pupil Marcus Colville passed away on 13 December 2017, at the age of 20. A celebration of his life, led by his family and friends, took place at Exeter Crematorium on Thursday 28 December and was attended by hundreds of mourners.
Marcus was a medical student at Newcastle University and a keen member of Newcastle Medicals RFC. At Exeter School, he was a popular and richly talented young man, who had particular gifts for music, especially singing, oboe and piano, and sport, notably rugby, cycling and sailing.
Headmaster Bob Griffin said: "The Exeter School community has been profoundly saddened by the loss of our former pupil, Marcus Colville. He was a young man of real talent, with a sharp intellect and great ability in music and sport. We will also miss his wit and great sense of humour.”
Marcus’s family has set up a fundraising page in support of mental health research for young people. It can be found at: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/marcusinmind
The school is honoured to dedicate its forthcoming Choral Society concert, at Exeter Cathedral on Thursday 15 March, to Marcus’s memory.
