U13 v Penrice Academy - won 30 – 25

U12 v Penrice Academy - lost 5 – 15

"It was a typical winter rugby Saturday for the junior teams with heavy rain softening the pitches and making handling and running conditions difficult," said Mr Ross.

"Penrice Academy, a combination of two schools from the Redruth area in Cornwall, were a completely unknown quantity providing a good challenge to our strong junior age groups. All teams played with the heart that has been typical of the senior teams against bigger opposition, playing some of their best rugby where chances were few and in between.

"The U14s demonstrated they had learnt their lessons after a few tough weeks, but unfortunately struggled to control territory, playing the entire second half in their own half. The U13s built a strong first-half lead but were forced to defend it all the way to the end as the opposition tried everything to get the last try they were after.

"The U12s were up against a well organised team who stretched them across the pitch, but built their own game plan, often only a few passes or one extra phase away from a try. An excellent set of matches for all."
