Swimming

Wednesday 26 September

Twenty pupils represented the school in the South West round of the English Schools Relays against 43 other schools.

"For some members of the team this event was an introduction to high level competition," said Dr Robb.

"All teams competed in 4 x 50 m freestyle relay as well as swimming their specialist strokes in the 4 x 50m medley relay. The teams put in a fantastic performance in the school's first entry in such an event and our teams were placed mid field in most categories.

"A special mention should go to the junior boys team of whose time of 2:46:18 placed them eighth in the medley relay. The senior boys team of Andre Orchard, Sam Sims, Luca Riezzo and Jake Allman swam the race of their lives to swim the medley relay in 1:58:57 and come fifth in South West.

"An outstanding achievement considering the squad have been together for one year."

"Anna Czipri and Grace Gillingham performed strongly and each recorded gala records in the intermediate girls age group, while Rachel Hammond claimed a school record in the senior girls backstroke.”
