Geography fieldwork skills put to the test
Axe Valley Wetlands
Lower Fifth Geographers enjoyed a sunny day of fieldwork at Axe Valley Wetlands.
Pupils undertook four stands of data collection: investigating microclimates, which will support a formal project write-up in lessons; measuring cross-sections and the velocity of a stream; a ranger-guided walk focusing on the management of the wetlands site; and measuring the cleanliness of Stafford Brook by kick-sampling.
Head of Geography Mr Hyde said the pupils remained in high spirits throughout the day and have developed a host of experience in fieldwork techniques.
“Many thanks to all the staff that accompanied and supported the trip."
