Core training concludes on Field Day
Combined Cadet Force
The weather on Friday saw a slight change of plan for the CCF recruits’ field day. The activities which had been due to take place on Woodbury common had to be relocated and run on the school site.
The field day marks the end of the core training for the Middle Fifth recruits before they start their taster sessions in each of the three separate sections.
The Upper Sixth cadets and NCOs led the recruits through drill, first aid, navigation and leadership tasks, whilst Footsteps of Discovery led a team challenge. There was a competition element running through the day and the recruits worked well in their sections. The winning section on the day was Foxtrot.
Contingent Commander and RAF Section Commander Dr Smale said: “The Upper Sixth had worked exceptionally well and really pulled together to deliver an excellent training package despite the last-minute adjustments.
“Thank you to all the staff and NCOs involved in planning and running sessions.”
