Trip to Rome
Thirty pupils studying Classical Subjects for either GCSE or A Level, embarked on a five-day trip to Rome and Ostia Antica early on Saturday 20 October.
The programme was packed full of visits to the most famous and important ancient sites. A Level pupils focussed on discovering how Augustus portrayed himself as the first emperor of Rome and also had the opportunity to stand where Cicero, the famous orator, gave his speeches in the Roman Forum.
GCSE pupils learned about Roman religion and cults, as well as looking into Ancient Warfare. In pleasant late summer temperatures, the group also enjoyed walking the narrow streets of Rome, sampling pizza, pasta and ice cream along the way.
Mrs Dunlop, Mr Keyes and Ms Shrubb were impressed with how well the pupils engaged with the busy programme and how well they soaked up everything there was to learn about this fascinating city and culture.
