A festive musical and spiritual treat
Junior School Carol Service
The Junior School Carol Service provided a truly festive musical and spiritual treat on Tuesday afternoon. All of the Junior School pupils were involved, plus some senior instrumentalists in Junior Orchestra. Featuring Christmas story readings, a reflection and prayers from Revd Tom, whole school carols, Christmas songs by year groups and additional items from Junior Choir, Junior Singers, Junior Orchestra and Junior Wind and Brass, the service is a highlight within the Junior School calendar at this time of year.
The congregation of friends and families also had the opportunity to join the children in singing several congregational carols, all accompanied by Mr Adcock on the piano.
After a number of weeks preparing the carols in music lessons and ensemble rehearsals, the event provided a joyful opportunity for the children to share their enthusiasm for music.
Mrs Guthrie led the choral singing in the service and said the pupils all worked extremely hard to prepare for the service.
“Special thanks to Mr Brimelow and Mrs Goldsworthy for all their efforts in their classes’ music lessons which resulted in everyone coming together today well-rehearsed and confident,” she said.
The retiring collection from the service raised over £400 towards the work of St Petrock’s, the Chaplain’s Charity this year. A recording is online.
