Ideal conditions for fieldwork
Middle Fifth Geography
94 Middle Fifth pupils travelled to Dawlish Warren to carry out consolidated work on coasts including processes, landforms, impacts of erosion and coastal protection.
The day started with drizzle and became very lovely with sunshine and a light breeze. Pupils looked at environment agency's latest coastal management work including beach replenishment.
Their fieldwork involved beach profiling and measurements which showed that much of the new sand is already being moved eastwards to Dawlish Warren
Head of Geography Helen Sail said there was excellent team work and thanked former teacher John Mason and Governor Helen Clark for their support.
“Pupils enjoyed the lunch time break and chance to eat doughnuts and chips on the beach!” she said.
