Brave and bold
Drama pupils from the Upper Fifth, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth enjoyed a unique opportunity to work with practitioners from Frantic Assembly in a four-hour workshop.
Frantic Assembly are one of the best physical theatre companies in the world at the moment; their movement techniques and choreography are in high demand and are influencing major theatre productions all over the world.
Most notably, their credits include the movement for ‘The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time’, the musical ‘Once’, as well as their own shows such as ‘Lovesong’, ‘Beautiful Burnout’ and ‘Othello’.
Two of their practitioners came down from London to run two separate workshops, teaching the pupils various devising building blocks as well as introducing them to some challenging physical lifts. It was fantastic to see the pupils physically interacting in such a mature and demanding way.
Head of Drama Jamie Brough said it was a physically exhausting workshop which was incredibly enjoyable, as well as being hugely rewarding and useful for the pupils.
