Under-11s are Devon Chess runners-up
Devon Junior Championships at Teign School
Six members of Exeter Junior School, and three from the Senior School, took part in the Devon Junior Chess Championships at Teign School on Saturday 3 December.
Joseph Sampson played in the Under 9 section and scored a very creditable 3 points.

In the Under 11 section, Edmund Kelly scored 4 points, George Heard, Henry Coleman and Leif Hafstad all scored 3 points and Redmond Coleman scored 2 points. These five boys formed the Exeter Junior School Under 11 team and, with a total of 15 points, were runners up to the Devon team champions, Broadclyst School. They were presented with a team trophy and are seen here with their individual silver medals. |
Edmund, George, Henry and Leif were also given a letter inviting them to be members of the Devon Under 11 chess team, which will be involved in tournaments with other counties in the New Year.
