The Religious Studies department has two full-time and three part-time teachers who use three teaching rooms in the School House Building. The Head of Department is Mr Michael Porter, who has been in post since September 1986. AQA specification is followed at GCSE, where Christian Ethics and Islam are taught. The A Level specification is set by OCR and two specific areas are studies: Religious Ethics (with a philosophy foundation) and Jewish Scriptures. In addition to the examination subjects, all pupils in Years 10 and 11 receive Religious Education lessons based on ethical and relevant issues in the news. The department runs a number of visits to religious places of worship, invites speakers into school and takes pupils to conferences. In October 2012 the department took a party of 40 to Israel for an eight-day tour.
