Art & Design
The Art Department teaches Fine Art at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level. The Head of Department is Miss Alison Dyer, who has been in post since September 2014. There is one full-time member of staff and a part-time Art Technician who work in the well-equipped studios. The subject follows the AQA specification at both GCSE and A Level. The Department runs a number of enrichment activities: there is an Art Club for younger pupils run by the Sixth Form and the studios are open daily at lunchtime and after school. Life drawing classes are run for pupils studying Art in the Sixth Form. The Department organises workshops and runs trips to local and national exhibitions. There is a popular annual residential trip to St Ives for Upper Fifth pupils. The Gallery in the Art School is used to exhibit work by pupils, staff and Old Exonians.
Each year, the Art Department hosts an exhibition in the Summer term which showcases artwork produced by pupils in the Third Form through to the Upper Sixth. The latest catalogue can be viewed as a PDF here, or as a flip-book here.
